How to Throw Your Own Poker Party
There's nothing better than poker night at your place or a
friend's place: everyone has a great time, fun, food and maybe even
wins a little money! But there are still ways to make your poker
night better by ensuring that everything is taken care of. And if
that's what you're after, you came to the right place!
The first thing you're going to want to do is make sure that's actually
legal to gamble where you live. Because the laws can change from
state to state, province to province, country to country, it's a
good idea to find out before you start your poker night.
Before you start playing you may want to go over the rules
of the poker game so that players are refreshed on what they're
doing (especially if there are new or novice players at the table). The next thing you want to do is find out how many people are going
to be coming to poker night so you can figure how many tables, chairs,
chips and decks of cards you're going to need to make sure there's
enough for everyone. If you've got 8 people or less coming to poker
night you'll probably only need one table; go for two tables for
up to 15 players, and three tables for more than that. If you've
got more than 20 people coming, though, you're going to have to figure
out how you want things to go (you might need to rent out a hall!)
As for chips and decks of playing cards, you'll want as many poker
chips as you can get your hands on. The simple plastic ones you get
at the dollar store are fine, by for a real poker playing experience
you'll want to splurge on so clay or clay-composite chips, preferably
between 7.5 and 13.5 grams. You'll need atleast 30 chips per player,
but for a truly good experience you'll want about 100 poker chips
per player. As for decks of playing cards, it's a good idea to have
two decks of cards at each table, so that while one deck is being
used the other can be shuffled and prepared for the next hand to
keep things moving.
