There's nothing more embarrassing than trying to play poker with
your friends - or worse - when you don't know what hand beats
what. Slapping down two of a kind on top of someone else's three
of a kind and thinking you won can sting a little, and getting
punched for trying to take the real winner's chips can sting a
LOT! Well, not to worry: with this handy poker hand guide we'll
refresh that memory of yours! There are ten types of winning hands
in Poker - though the high card (Type 1), is always your last
resort and can't really be considered a "hand".

1. Kicker
The highest non-paired card in your hand.
This can be the decider between two players
with the same hand or players with nothing
else in their hand.

2. Pair
2 cards of the same face value
or number. |

3. 2 Pair
A pair of one number or face value and a
different pair of
another number or face value. |
 |
4. Three of a Kind
A hand made with three cards of the
same
face value or number. (Also called "Trips" or a "Set" ) |

5. Straight
Five consecutive cards (ie., 23456) of
different suits. |
 |
6. Flush
Five non-consecutive cards of
the same suit. |
 |
7. Full House
A hand made up of a Pair and
Three of a Kind. |
 |
8. Four of a Kind
Four cards of the same face value
or number. (Also called "Quads" ) |
 |
9. Straight Flush
Five consecutive cards all of the same suit. |
 |
10. Royal Flush
10 J Q K A of the same suit, the highest possible hand. |
