Merv
Griffin is an absolutely incredible man, an honest to goodness entertainment
mogul who has worked in nearly every genre of the entertainment world
before he decided that he wanted to run it instead. Merv Griffin
started out as a singer with hits in the 1950s like "
I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts," "Wilhelmina" and "Never Been Kissed," before
he was discovered in a nightclub by Doris Day and moved on to making films,
and later television. He was a regular on the Jack Parr show among others, and
really made it big as the host of "Play Your Hunch," which became one of the
biggest gameshows in history as "Jeopardy." His biggest break came, though,
when he guest hosted for Jack Parr on the Tonight Show: NBC liked him so much
that they offered him the Merv Griffin Show, which became one of the longest
running and most popular talk shows ever. He has gone on to be a producer, owner
of the Beverly Hilton Hotel, winner of 15 Emmys, and if the sheer number of
his and his son's appearances at Hollywood
